Playtesting with a prototype deck (pictured to the left below) proved great results! Players were engaged and starting a conversation about how someone may make certain decisions. Players who laid down cards for a character would try to see from his or her point of view in order to explain the character’s reasoning. Multiple players would stay play along while others would show other facets of the character. The first version of startAnew created a comfortable space for teens to talk as other characters about nuanced situations, comfortably and openly.
